Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of young people (ages 12-29) who work to address mental health and substance use disorder in Huron and Perth counties.

We believe in amplifying youth voices (ages 12-29) who are impacted by our work. We follow the directions set by youth in our community in order to create meaningful change and encourage youth to contribute to the future of Huron and Perth Counties.

The YAC team meets every-other-week, online or in person, to:

  • Discuss trends impacting youth mental health and substance use

  • Identify needs facing youth in Huron and Perth Counties

  • Organize and conduct youth-led events and initiatives

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with community organizations and partners

  • Support each other through journeys with mental health and substance use

  • And more!

YAC members also volunteer at TSF events and assist in content creation for our Instagram and TikTok accounts. In return, youth gain volunteer hours, an honorarium if 80% of meetings are attended, resume building opportunities, and more!
